Rafting in Rishikesh offers multiple stretches on the Ganga River, each with different distances, rapid grades, and thrill levels. From easy beginner-friendly routes to long adventurous stretches, you can choose the one that suits your comfort, age, and excitement level.
Rafting packages in Rishikesh start from just ₹600 and vary depending on the stretch, rapid grade, and season. Below is a complete guide to all rafting stretches in Rishikesh with details on distance, duration, rapids, and suitability.
The 9 km rafting stretch is the shortest and easiest option in Rishikesh, suitable mainly for very young kids (12–14 years) or those who just want to experience sitting in a raft without much thrill. With only simple Grade I–II rapids, it feels more like a boating ride than a real rafting adventure.
👉 We do not suggest the 9 km rafting stretch unless it is only for small kids (12–14 years), as it feels more like boating with very little thrill. For adults and families, the 12 km Marine Drive to Shivpuri rafting stretch is the best option – safe, enjoyable, and highly recommended for a true rafting experience.
This is the most popular & highly recommended rafting trip in Rishikesh. It offers the perfect balance of safety & thrill, making it ideal for beginners, families, and even adventure seekers. With exciting Grade II–III rapids, this stretch guarantees fun, adventure, and memorable moments without being risky.
The 15 km Shivpuri to NIM Beach rafting stretch comes with one Grade III+ rapid, which makes it riskier during high water levels due to possible flips and fallouts. It is usually chosen by youth groups or those looking for extra thrill, but it is not as safe and comfortable as the 12 km Marine Drive to Shivpuri stretch.
👉 If you are looking for a safe & enjoyable trip, the 12 km Marine Drive to Shivpuri stretch remains the best option with the perfect mix of fun & safety.
The 25 km Rafting Marine Drive to Rishikesh is one of the longest rafting trips in Rishikesh. It starts from Marine Drive and ends at NIM Beach (just before Laxman Jhula), covering a wide range of Grade II–III rapids along the way. The journey takes around 3 to 4 hours, making it both adventurous & scenic.
This stretch is a good choice for fit youngsters & adventure seekers who want to enjoy a longer rafting experience. However, as it requires more stamina, it may feel tiring for beginners or those looking for a short and easy ride.
The 36 km Rafting from Kaudiyala to Rishikesh is one of the toughest & most challenging rafting trips in Rishikesh. It starts from Kaudiyala and ends at NIM Beach (near Laxman Jhula), covering multiple Grade III–IV rapids, with some stretches reaching Grade V during high water levels.
This section is recommended only for experienced rafters & strong adventure seekers, as it requires high stamina and carries a greater risk of flips & fallouts. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours, making it a true test of endurance and skill on the Ganga.
The 60 km Devprayag to Rishikesh Rafting is the longest & most challenging rafting expedition in Rishikesh. It starts from Devprayag (the holy confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers, where the Ganga officially begins) and ends at NIM Beach, Rishikesh (near Laxman Jhula).
This expedition covers 25+ rapids of different grades (Grade II–IV), spread across 2–3 days of rafting and camping. It is designed only for serious adventure seekers and professional rafters, as it demands high stamina, endurance, and prior rafting experience. Along the way, you experience untouched Himalayan beauty, sandy river beaches, and thrilling big-water rapids.
