





The Kedarkantha Trek is one of India’s most popular winter treks, located near Govind Pashu Vihar National Park in Uttarakhand. This scenic trek features lush meadows, frozen lakes, and breathtaking landscapes. A major highlight is camping near Juda Ka Talab, once a meditation site of Lord Shiva. Open year-round, Kedarkantha offers a unique charm in every season.

There are three types of Kedarkantha trek packages available to suit your preferences: a 6-day package starting from Delhi, a 5-day package starting from Dehradun, and a 3-day package starting from Sankri. Choose the one that best fits your schedule and convenience.
Located at an altitude of 1920 meters (6,400 feet), Sankri is the base camp for the Kedarkantha Trek. Dehradun to Sankri 220km drive which will take almost 10 hours. All the trekkers will be picked up from Dehradun Railway station at 6:30 AM in a Bolero (6-7 seaters), Innova (7 seaters), or Tempotravellers (12 seaters). You will be reaching Sankri by 05 in the evening. Night stay in guest house and hotel. Upon reaching Sankri, we'll check in to our designated homestay. The rest of the day is at leisure and travelers are advised to rest. In the evening, Dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay in Sankri Village.
After early morning breakfast, a small briefing session would be conducted by the trek leader where all the necessary details about the rest of the day will be shared. We will start our trekking journey. En route to our campsite, we'd be traversing through lush green forests consisting of pine trees with the Swargrohini Massif in the backdrop beckoning you closer. We will reach Juda Ka Taal after five hours of trekking. Upon reaching our campsite, we will have lunch.The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner will be served in the evening followed by an overnight stay at Juda Ka Taal Campsite. On this day you will begin the trek towards Juda Ka Talab which is located at an altitude of 9,100 feet. Trekking for 4km will take 2.5 long hours. The path will pass through maple trees, oak forests, water streams, and stunning meadows. Night stay in tents.
Get up early in the morning and witness the breathtaking sunrise that will definitely leave you stunned. The day will start with morning tea followed by breakfast and after that, the trekker will begin the trek to the Kedar Kantha base which is located at a height of 11,250 feet. The trek leader will give you a briefing about the day before we proceed. You will be passing through some pastures where shepherd log huts can be seen. Kedar Kantha Base from Jadu Ka Talab is almost 4kms and it takes 2.5 hours to cover at a moderate speed. Juda Ka Talab is a wonderful lake that is surrounded by pine trees that often gets freeze at the time of winter. Upon reaching and checking into the campsite, we'll have a warm lunch. The rest of the day is at leisure and we'll relax by indulging in activities like snowball fights and other fun games. Lastly, we'll have dinner at the campsite followed by an overnight stay at Kedarkantha Base Camp.
We'll wake up early in the morning for a trek to the Kedarkantha summit. It will take almost 7 hours for a 6kms trek. After reaching the summit, trekkers can enjoy the view from the top and witness the beautiful sunrise from the summit. Lunch will be served at the base camp. After lunch, we'll descend towards Hargaon and reach our next Campsite in Hargaun. Night stay will be organized in tents.
Returning back from Hargaon camp (8,900 feet) to Sankri (6,400 feet). Trekking for 6kms which will take almost 4 hours. Descend 2,500 feet through dense pine woodlands
Back to Dehradun which is 220km from Sankri. The drive will take almost 10 hours but, on the way, you will come across beautiful scenes. By Tata Sumo or any other vehicle, you will be dropped at Dehradun Railway Station. By 7 – 8 pm in the evening, you will be reaching Dehradun, so get your bookings done for your hometown accordingly.

Kedarkantha is a mountain peak of the Himalayas in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Kedarkantha is located within Govind Wildlife Sanctuary at an altitude of 12,500 ft (3,800 m). The word Kedarkantha means ‘throat of Lord Shiva. A trek to the peak of Kedarkantha usually starts from Sankri, a small village, and takes a minimum of four days to complete. During summer minimum temperature at night is -5°C and max temperature in the daytime is 10°C.

From December to February, Kedarkantha experiences snowfall, and the paths of this trek get covered with snow. The route becomes a little difficult due to all the snow cover but with the proper equipment and necessary precautions, even beginners can go for a winter trek in Kedarkantha. During the winter trekkers can witness the mesmerizing views of the snow-capped mountains and pine trees. The region receives high snowfall during January when the entire Kedarkantha is covered in a white sheet of snow.

November to April is considered the best time for the Kedarkantha trek. However, Kedarkantha Trek is open in both seasons i.e. Summers & Winters. If you want to enjoy chilling in cold and heavy snow then you can visit in the winter. If you want to see the beautiful green meadows, a clear blue sky, and a 360° view of the peaks all around then it's better to go in September and October.

Kedarkantha is situated at an altitude of 12,500 ft in Govind wildlife sanctuary and is part of the Garhwal Himalayas. It takes approx 4 to 6 days to complete this trek. The base camp for this trek is Sankri which is located at a height of 6,000 feet. Kedarkantha trek begins from Sankri, a small village at a distance of 220 km from Dehradun. Buses or cabs are easily available from Dehradun to Sankri and it takes around 6 hours to reach Sankri. From Sankri, you have to climb uphill for about 10 km to reach the summit.
